Group-velocity Dispersion Compensation of Telecom Data Signals using Compact Discrete Phase Filters in Silicon

Abstract

We propose a discrete phase filter design suitable for group-velocity dispersion compensation of data signals in fiber-optics telecommunication links using waveguide Bragg gratings in silicon. Dispersion compensation of a 24-Gbps NRZ-OOK signal after propagation through 31.12 km of SMF is experimentally demonstrated using mm-long phase filters.
