Stimulated Raman scattering effect compensation in coded Raman optical time domain reflectometry system

Abstract

We identify the presence of distortions in coded Raman distributed temperature sensors caused by backward amplified spontaneous Raman scattering induced by long code sequences. A compensating method is proposed and demonstrated to increase temperature accuracy.
