Improvement of temperature sensitivity of long-period fiber gratings using liquids with high thermo-optic coefficients

Abstract

The sensitivity of a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) temperature sensor can be improved by 1.8 times by placing silicon oil with a high thermo-optical coefficient around the LPFG formed on the fiber.
