Abstract

The characteristic of the method of the multiple exposures with the plate shifting is that parts of the optical system are fixed except the adjustment of the plate holder during the exposures. Thus the complicacies of the device and operation can be avoided. The multi-facet holographic lens with parallel axes (PMHL) can be manufactured by means of this method. Fig.1 shows a schematic diagram of the experimental arrangement for the manufacture of the PMHL. A beam emitted from a laser S is split in two by the splitter SP. The transmitted beam that undergoes the objective N1 and the L1 is converted into a collimate one, which is used as the reference beam. The reflected beam that undergoes the objective N2 and the lens L2 is converted into a convergent one, which is used as the object beam. The convergent point can be considered as the focus of the corresponding facet of a PMHL. The angle between the object and reference beams must be chosen appropriatly. If this angle is too small, the use of the PMHL will be affected easily by the 0 order of the diffraction beams.
