Ultrafast Laser Stress Figuring: a non-contact finishing process for lightweight mirrors

Abstract

We present Ultrafast Laser Stress Figuring, a mirror finishing process that introduces controllable stress to bend mirrors. We demonstrate deterministic and stable correction of Zernike polynomials up to 7th order, without introducing mid-spatial frequency error.
