Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present very first results of acoustic microscopy on optical films, e.g. for infrared applications in the spectral region between 8 - 12 micrometers. It will be pointed out, that the acoustic microscopy is a useful tool to get informations from beneath the front surface of those optical coatings.
