Abstract

IR Coatings are optical interference coatings used for at least one of the atmospheric windows from 3-5 or from 8-12 microns. Particulary interesting are coatings which are additionally used for the visible spectrum, or high power coatings for the CO2-laser at 10.6 microns. The main applications of IRCs are thermal imagers and laser systems. Some special topics concerning IRCs, which differ from other types of coatings, are discussed.
