Abstract
DIAL measurements are made in the face of a number of sources of bias and noise arising within both the atmospheric system and the measurement procedure (1,2). At CO2 wavelengths the use of a fully tunable laser operating typically at a pressure of 10 atmospheres has a number of apparent advantages over use of lasers at atmospheric pressure or below, especially if output can be achieved at more than one wavelength at a given time.
