Abstract

At those locations, such as airports, where measurements of visibility are critical to operational safety and efficiency, an infrared lidar may be used to provide high spatial resolution along selectable paths. Lidar measurements of backscatter at these infrared wavelengths may be converted to visibility through those relationships such as those developed in this paper.
