Abstract

We report initial results of lidar studies of high clouds, including optically thin cirrus. This work is part of a program of middle atmosphere measurements, using the fixed site lidar at College Park and a transportable lidar built for field campaigns. This paper describes results of observations of backscatter and extinction of light at 532 nm wavelength (Nd:YAG(SHG)) by high clouds.
