Abstract
The CSIRO Division of Atmospheric Research lidar has recently been upgraded with a 10 pps QuantaRay GCR11 Nd:YAG laser. Operation is now possible at both 532nm and 355nm and is planned at 1064nm once the upgrade has been completed. Gating circuits for the new PMT detectors allow weak signals from long ranges to be studied by blanking the strong signals from short ranges, and a low-pass anti-aliassing filter has been incorporated to allow accurate digitisation of the noisy signal at low sampling rates by the digital oscilloscope. The data acquisition software has been extended to allow the use of the signal averaging capability of the National Model VP5740A digital oscilloscope.
