The Along Track Scanning Radiometer: Precise Sea Surface Temperature from the ERS-1 Satellite

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The ATSR is an advance infrared imaging radiometer. It embodies a precise self-calibration scheme and views the earth at 2 angles. These features enable sea surface temperature measurements to be made with the precision now required for climate research.
