Abstract

The Conference 'Laser in Remote Sensing' which was held in conjunction with the Laser '91 trade show in Munich was accompanied by a workshop, titled 'Optical Remote Sensing for Air Pollution Detection'. This special forum had been introduced for a vital and stimulating exchange of scientific information, user needs as well as regulations and guidelines, derived by national councils and agencies. This workshop demonstrated a broad common understanding of potentials and needs in the field of remote sensing of air pollutants and marked the beginning of an intensive collaboration between research institutes, the industry and national agencies. In this paper we will summarize the results of this workshop and the projected goals for future events.
