Abstract

Z-scan method proposed in report [1] is proved that it is an effective and simple method to measure the third order nonlinearity. In our early works[2, 3, 4], we modified Z-scan method by using two wavelength picosecond laser pulses to measure the third order nonlinearity and nonlinear response of chloroplastin and chlorophll-a. In our setup, one is a fixed wavelength laser and another is a tunable laser pulses pumped by a same YAG laser. Recently M.Sheik-Bahae and co-worker[5, 6] also improved their Z-scan method to measure the nonlinear response and nondegenerate nonlinearities. Here we introduce another modified Z-scan system, as shown in figure 1, which was set up in our laboratory to measure the nonlinearity and response time by using white laser pulses. We will campare this setup with our early setup. We found this set up is more simple than the old one.
