Photoisomerisation of DODCI Studied by Photoacoustic Spectroscopy

Abstract

DODCI (3,3′-diethyldicarbocyanine iodide), a widely used mode­locking dye, was taken as an example to study the influence of concentration, modulationfrequency and light intensity onto the PA-spectrum of this compound. As has been shown by flashphotolysis DODCI isomerizes upon excitation to the first excited singulet state from the alltrans configuration to an isomere whose longwavelength absorption band is shifted bathocromic by about 45 nm /1/ (fig. 1).
