Observation of the Photorefractive Effect in Semi-insulating CdS

Abstract

We report the first observation of the photorefractive effect in Cadmium sulfide. The maximum gain coefficient measured is 0.3 cm−1 at 633 nm. The response time is 1 ms at an intensity of 150 mW/cm2.
