High power Nd:YAG optics for welding and cutting employing axial gradient index glass: Gradium®

Gradium® glass construction, design theory and performance benefits are reviewed. Design examples, characterization data, and high-power test data obtained using commercial Nd:YAG lasers is presented. The Gradium designs display efficient and robust performance.
