Abstract

The intrinsic interface sensitivity of second- order nonlinear optical probes, combined with their long penetration depths, make possible a range of fascinating studies of buried interfaces. Because this problem is of fundamental interest and technological importance, significant theoretical1,2 and, more recently, experimental3 work toward understanding the nature of solid/solid buried interfaces has been undertaken.
