Abstract

This paper briefly reviews current applications of the elastic backscatter lidar technique,1 with emphasis on aerosol and cloud measurements. For completeness, it also includes measurements of wind via aerosol pattern tracking, elastic backscatter measurements of molecular density and temperature, and high-spectral-resolution measurements of aerosol properties. These are all closely related techniques not covered by other papers at this conference.
