Abstract
The literature on the effects of refractive turbulence on optical waves is quite extensive.1-3 Until recently few calculations on the effects of turbulence specific to lidar systems have been performed.4,5,6 We will first review the physics of line-of-sight optical propagation through the turbulent atmosphere and then describe the theory as it applies to specific lidar configurations.
