Abstract

This study1 investigated the feasibility of using a Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) approach for the Advanced Moisture and Temperature Sounder (AMTS) in support of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) effort to design an advanced passive infrared sounding system. The FTS approach holds promise in several operational areas, but its unique means of encoding, recording, and retrieving spectro-radiometric information raised questions about its feasibility.
