Inverse Design of Compact Silicon-on-insulator Optical Resonator Based on Topology Optimization

Abstract

Computational inverse design generates better and compact photonic components. We demonstrate a topology optimized optical resonator/cavity having strong resonance at 1550 nm wavelength with a Q-factor of 685.6 in 5 x 0.8 μm2 area.
