Analog Optical Link Performance: Present State and Future Needs

Analytical analog optical link models are used to estimate the link performance that could be achieved based on the performance reported in the literature for new electro-optic devices. The results show that the link performance would still fall well below a nominal set of link goals that are representative of application needs.
