Abstract
It has been shown that a linear Stark broadening of spectral holes occurs in centrosymmetric impurity molecules devoid of intrinsic dipole moments [1-9], The dipole moment changes as large as 0.58D for perylene [2] and 0.8-1.6D for pentacene [7,8] have been observed in polar poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrices, respectively. To our knowledge, a second order Stark shift of spectral holes have not been established even in non-polar hosts.
