Interlayer-Directionally Grating-Coupled III-V ARROW Structures for Integrated Opto-electronics

Abstract

Here we report the first demonstration of interlayer vertical directional grating-coupling in III-V planar waveguides. This is achieved in a new geometry based on Anti-Resonant Reflecting Optical Waveguides (ARROWs) suitable for III-V integrated optics. This is also the first report of ARROWS in III-V materials, and we present experimental verification of a number of the key features which can be expiated for device applications.
