Iterative Forward Error Correction Decoding for Spectral Efficient Optical OFDM Transmission Systems

Abstract

Increasing demands of achieving higher bit-rates requires operating at high spectral efficiency, which makes FEC coding inevitable. In this contribution we combine an optical OFDM transmission system with a capacity approximating FEC technique called BICM-ID.
