A tunable 5000 - 500 Å free electron laser radiation source to be constructed at Stanford University

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have analyzed the wavelength range over which laser operation should be possible with the new storage ring electron beam source now under construction at Stanford University. The electron beam brightness produced by this machine makes possible high gain operation of the free electron laser from the visible through the XUV region, and perhaps beyond 500 A if sufficiently good mirrors can be made for these wavelengths.
