Distributed Chemical Sensing Through Light-Diffusing Optical Fibers

Abstract

We propose the use of a light-diffusing optical fiber for distributed chemical sensing by optical absorption spectroscopy. The approach enables distributed measurements with a spatial resolution of about 17cm over 4m of measurement range.
