Energy Flow from Highly Excited CH Overtones in Benzene and Alkanes

Abstract

Simple classical and quantal models of the ultrarapid ( 50 to 250 fs) flow of energy from CH (CD) overtones in benzene (perdeuterobenzene) and in terminal alkyl methyl groups are shown to account for experimental variation in linewidths, including isotopic effects.
