Abstract
The kinetic investigation of intramolecular excited state proton offers an exciting opportunity to probe the role of solvent configurational dynamics in a simple ultrafast chemical processes. One of the most interesting examples of excited state proton is observed for 3-hydroxyflavone (3HF) which is presently being studied by several research groups. In spite of the many recent advances made in this area, a specific, detailed and quantitative understanding of the role of solvent dynamics on the proton, transfer process of 3HF has remained elusive. In an attempt to remedy this situation we undertook a systematic investigation, by picosecond fluorescence spectroscopy, of solvent and structural effects on the photodynamics of 3-hydroxyflavones.
