Subpicosecond Optical Non-linearities in Ga-As Multiple Quantum Well Structures

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Using femtosecond time-resolved detection techniques, the dynamics of optical non-linearities is studied in GaAs multiple quantum well structures. In this paper we will focus on the high energy shift of the exciton resonance as a function of excitation and structure parameters. These experiments provide new insight into the physical origin of optical non-linearities in quasi two-dimensional semi-conductors. Applications for ultra-fast ON and OFF switching will also be discussed.
