Picosecond Electron Transfer Reactions in Bacterial Photosynthesis

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The center of photosynthetic bacteria carries out the initial electron transfer steps in which the bacteria capture the energy of sunlight. Picosecond spectrophotometric techniques have been used to examine the series of transient excited states and radical pairs that are created when the reaction center is excited with light.
