Abstract

We address here the problem of the coherence of short exciton-polariton pulses in polar semiconductors using a nonlinear time-resolved technique that gives direct access to their dephasing time. The technique can be complemented to provide spatial resolution as well by exploiting the nonlocal possibilities of the nonlinear interactions. The principle of the technique was outlined elsewhere and demonstrated for the study of the dephasing of the transverse (polariton) component of the Z3 exciton in cuprous chloride (CuCl) ; here we concentrated mainly on the results related to its longitudinal component.
