Stepwise Electron Emission from Autoionizing Magnesium Stark States.

Abstract

Magnesium is excited to a doubly excited state that is energetically allowed to autoionize. Electron emission from autoionization is usually exponential. Excitation with a short (ps) pulse, however, results in a stepwise electron emission.
