Abstract
Human receptor activity is open to analysis using the ERG. The leading edge of the a-wave provides a measure of the first 10 to 20 ms of the photocurrent response of both the rod and cone receptors. The complete wave form of the receptor response is obscured in the ERG by other potential, including the b-wave. Recently, however, a two-flash paradigm was used to trace out the recovery phase of the human rod photoresponse1. Here we adapt this paradigm to examine the trailing edge of the photoresponse of the human cones.
