Abstract
Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) consists of ablating the cornea with a laser beam. The intention is that the cornea be reshaped to a better optical figure. We have modeled the consequences of such a procedure that ablates away the right amount of material in the wrong place. Such an error turns out to be less disastrous than we had expected from anecdotal reports in the literature1.
