Abstract

In this paper we present developments and reliability tests of a method for the derivation of the wavefront aberration of the human eye using the aberroscopic technique described by Howland1 for the evaluation of photographic lenses, which was subsequently modified for use on the human eye both subjectively2,3 and objectively4,5. We use a solid-state imaging device linked directly to a desktop computer to allow immediate and automated analysis of the image.
