Abstract
An optical flip-flop operation (FFO) method using bistable characteristic of microcavity polaritons is studied theoretically. Through introduction and combination of triggering optical pulses with different polarizations, both intensity and polarization FFOs of polaritons are realized separately or simultaneously taking advantages of the spin-dependent characteristic of polaritons. In addition, influence of amplitude or width of the optical pulses is also discussed so as to optimize switching time of FFO.
