Relationship between Turbulent Image Variance and Average Image Gradient

Abstract

The linear relationship between the intensity variance of a turbulent image and the average image’s gradient squared is examined by analyzing turbulent image sequences. It is validated for weak turbulence but not for moderate turbulence.
