Abstract

A performance comparison of the photomultiplier, with type S-20 cathode, and the Si photodiode is performed from the standpoint of noise limited temperature resolution, dynamic temperature range, and potential precision in connection with their use in radiation pyrometry. The analysis demonstrates the superiority of the Si detector working at 1-μm wavelength.
