Abstract

The tubular fluorescent lamp is approximated by two flat parallel phosphor layers excited internally. Using single-layer formulas from Parts 1 and 2, formulas for the tube losses and light output are obtained. An approximate formula due to Butler agrees with the tube light output here when the phosphors are very white.
