Abstract
The Sadtler system is well suited for encoding infrared spectra that are displayed on a linear wavelength scale. However, for spectra presented on a scale linear in wavenumber, the conversion of the wavenumber values of the strongest peaks within each 1 μ interval into microns is tedious. The use of a transparent overlay for conversion requires maintenance of exact alignment of paper and overlay and suffers from the fact that the tenths of a micron lines in the the 13- and 14-μ region are closely spaced and the spacings vary in a nonlinear manner, thereby rendering visual interpolation difficult.
