Abstract
Very little is known about the products from reactions between phosphate esters and hydrazines. We found that phosphate esters with the general formula (RO)<sub>3</sub>P=O, R=methyl, hydrogen, and/or phenyl, react with hydrazine or its phenyl- and methyl-substituted derivatives to form hydrazinium phosphates. Infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) proved to be indispensable tools in establishing the structure and substitution patterns of these salts. This communication contains characteristic spectroscopic data for ten new hydrazinium phosphates which were obtained. The salts are presented in the spectral data Tables I and II along with Roman numerals by which they are designated in the discussion.
