Abstract

A PDP 8/I computer with 8 K memory has been used to control a double beam absorption spectrophotometer for the range of 50 000 to 10 000 cm−1. Details of the optical and electronic design are given, and the principles and advantages of a computer-controlled instrument are outlined. The software is described, and some spectra demonstrating the performance of the instrument are given.
