The Production Process

File Conversion

After transfer to the production workflow, your files will be converted to one (or both) of the following file types noted below:

XML (Extensible Markup Language):  Encodes manuscript metadata (e.g.: publisher name, ISSN, article title, etc.) and structural parts of an article (e.g.: figures) in a machine-readable format that is required for inclusion in major indexers and databases

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language):  Supports embedded article elements such as videos, images, and tables and is the preferred file format of important search engines such as Google or Google Scholar
