Here are some key points to remember when preparing your review:

  • Summarize
    • Provide a summary of the topic of the paper and major conclusions.
    • Give your overall assessment of the manuscript’s significance, breadth, and fit.
  • Itemize
    • A synthesis of the most critical aspects of the manuscript that should influence the manuscript decision
    • Use separate paragraphs or numbered comments to identify issues.
    • Ensure all critiques are well-supported by evidence, and are followed up with specific suggestions to authors to improve the manuscript.
  • Conclude
    • Miscellaneous remarks which are not significant criticism of the paper can be included at the end of the review.
    • Your recommendation to the Editors should be explained in your conclusion.
