Abstract

This paper presents calculated results concerning how the thermophysical properties of a foreign object buried in the ground and the parameters of the process of natural heat exchange that characterizes daylight conditions affect the surface temperature of the ground. An estimate is made of the probabilities of detecting local temperature anomalies caused by buried objects when airborne IR scanning apparatus is used.
