Abstract
This paper discusses the design of hoods for preventing zeroth-order illumination from being incident in the focal plane of a mirror-Wright system. The hoods have the form of a tube with a port for the object beam, a central-aperture cone in a planoidal mirror, and a front screen. The shape of the port, the central-aperture cone, and the focal-plane circle is specified by two ruled surfaces, by means of which it is possible to approximately determine the geometry of the front screen.
