Abstract
Recently we reported on the generation and amplification of short dye laser pulses pumped by the frequency-doubled output of a cw mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. The advantages of this pumping source over others include a shorter pump pulse, increased component lifetime, and the relative lase of short pulse amplification. Pulses as short as 70 fsec are presently generated by use of a rhodamine 6G-DQOCI dye mixture and are readily amplified.
