Abstract
Large active area laser diodes consisting of laser arrays and broad stripes are efficient sources of high power emission. Their range application, however, is at present limited by the large far field divergence due to limited spatial coherence and phase distortion in the near field. Several techniques such as injection locking and external cavities have been used to achieve diffraction-limited far field emission.1-4
